Rumi's Whisper

Brooch of gold, silver, diamonds, a rock crystal with reversely engraved intaglio of a ney player and seven rock crystals with reversely painted calligraphy.

Sufis believe that reed instruments, and specifically the ney, represent the human form. Just as reeds are picked from a marsh and hollowed out, humans have been detached from their essence and sent to Earthly life in order to become wise and regain their essence through daily ordeals. A reed needs someone to blow into it, it does not make a sound by itself. It can only be filled with the breath of love. When someone blows on it, their heart is filled with the love of God, like those full of wisdom and free of spite or hatred. Rumi whispers the following seven pieces of advice from his Masnavi, which begins with the worlds, "Listen to the reeds:"

· Be as the sun, in tenderness and mercy.
· Be as the night, in covering others flaws.
· Be as the dead, in rage and temper
· Be as the earth in humility and modesty.
· Be as the sea in tolerance.

EITHER APPEAR AS YOU ARE OR BE AS YOU APPEAR.

Just as Sevan Bıçakçı whispers out from within his brooch.
