Necklace of gold, silver, diamonds, mosaic with carnelian tesserae and a citrine with reversely engraved intaglio of a lily.
The roots of a beautiful water lily reside in muddy, opaque waters. Its body rises patiently and blooms into beautiful flowers as it hits the surface. This is why water lilies are a symbol of purity, enlightenment, self-renewal and rebirth in many Eastern cultures. Buddhist belief has it that every living being has the opportunity to attain enlightenment and perfection. But for this to happen, you must be patient and go through a variety of life cycles by being reborn thousands of times as you are carved and polished gradually through the pain of the material world. A water lily's flower is included in this piece as a reflection of the highest levels of consciousness attained only after patience and struggle.
